چکیده

Aim Dynamic Contrast Enhanced (DCE) imaging is an investigative tool to monitor cancer treatments such as antiangiogenic drugs. The difficulty of estimating an appropriate arterial input function in MRI or ultrasound for instance makes the reference region (RR) model very attractive. However it is not applicable to hepatic perfusion studies for which two input functions (hepatic artery and portal vein) have to be considered. A generalization of the RR approach to hepatic DCE studies was thus developed and validated on DCE-CT hepatic studies for which both input functions could be estimated.

Effect of Bias in Contrast Agent Concentration Measurement on Estimated Pharmacokinetic Parameters in Brain Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging Studies

Introduction: Pharmacokinetic (PK) modeling of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is widely applied in tumor diagnosis and treatment evaluation. Precision analysis of the estimated PK parameters is essential when they are used as a measure for therapy evaluation or treatment planning. In this study, the accuracy of PK parameters in brain DCE...

Automatic Prostate Cancer Segmentation Using Kinetic Analysis in Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced MRI

Background: Dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) provides functional information on the microcirculation in tissues by analyzing the enhancement kinetics which can be used as biomarkers for prostate lesions detection and characterization. Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate spatiotemporal patterns of tumors by extracting semi-quantitative as well as w...

The effect of contrast agent on delivered dose during diagnostic imaging of thoracic region

This study evaluated the impact of contrast material on the estimation of absorbed dose due to computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) using the ICRP reference phantoms. To address this issue, we modified the previously developed physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model to be conformed to the ICRP reference phantoms. Regarding the standard contrast material injection protocol...

تأثیر کنتراست‌زاهای تجویزی بر منحنی‌ های توزیع دوز در طراحی درمان رادیوتراپی بر پایه سی‌تی‌اسکن

Background: In three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT), contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) image is commonly used to assist radiation oncologists in diagnosing regions of interest, so that normal and target tissues can be better delineated. CECT causes the temporary increase in the CT number and the corresponding electron density (ρe). Administrated contrast agents (CA) during CT simula...

Evaluation of the accuracy of dynamic contrast enhanced MRI in the diagnosis of invasive prostate neoplasm using pathological findings

Background: Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy in men and the second leading cause of death in all countries of the world. The exact mechanism of prostate cancer is not known. On the other hand, early detection of prostate cancer can lead to a complete cure. Several clinical experiments including Digital Rectum Examination (DRE), biochemistry such as Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), ...
